About Me

Hello! I am an Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics at Ontario Tech University.

My research interests are largely in combinatorial matrix theory, linear algebra, and their applications. In terms of applications, I am particularly (and newly) interested in network science. My expertise is in Markov chains and random walks on graphs, and since I have focused on these topics from a linear algebra point-of-view, I'm interested in the spectral side of things - the influence and role of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the transition matrix in the behaviour of the modelled system.

My Ph.D. research focused on finite Markov chains, and particularly, the influence of the directed graph underlying the chain. The title of my thesis was Markov chains under combinatorial constraints: analysis and synthesis.

I was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University, working with Dr. Steve Butler. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Manitoba under the supervision of Dr. Steve Kirkland, who originally took me on at the Hamilton Institute at National University of Ireland, Maynooth (which is now named Maynooth University).
